Terms of Service

By accessing or using FaithLock, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) and that you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the App on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

FaithLock is a faith-based screen-time management application for iOS. Its core purpose is to help users build intentional, spiritually grounded phone habits by requiring them to complete a spiritual action — such as reading a Bible verse, engaging in AI-guided prayer, or reading a Bible chapter — before gaining timed access to apps they have chosen to block.

Key features of the App include:

• App Blocking: Using Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls) to apply shields to user-selected apps
• Spiritual Unlock Flow: Quick Verse, Guided Prayer (mood-based, AI-generated), Bible Chat, and Read a Chapter
• AI Devotional Chat: Conversational AI powered by Groq, referencing Scripture
• Streaks & Gamification: Daily streak tracking and prayer history
• Full Bible Reader: In-app Bible access with multiple translations

FaithLock offers a free tier and optional paid subscriptions that unlock premium features.

By using FaithLock, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information when creating your account
• Keep your account credentials secure and confidential
• Not use the App for any unlawful or abusive purpose
• Not attempt to reverse engineer, circumvent, or exploit the App's app-blocking mechanisms
• Not attempt to bypass the Screen Time authorization or shields through unauthorized means
• Not misuse the emergency unlock feature in ways that undermine the App's intended purpose
• Not submit content through AI chat that is harmful, abusive, or violates any third-party rights

FaithLock uses Apple's Family Controls framework to apply and remove app shields on your device. By using the app-blocking feature, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You voluntarily grant FaithLock Screen Time authorization during onboarding, which can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings
• App selection is entirely at your discretion — FaithLock cannot access the identity of the apps you choose to block
• Apple's Screen Time controls can be bypassed by disabling Screen Time in iOS Settings; this is a platform limitation shared by all Screen Time apps and is outside our control
• FaithLock makes no guarantee that app shields will be completely effective in every circumstance

FaithLock uses AI (powered by Groq) to generate prayers, devotionals, and responses during Bible Chat sessions. By using these features, you acknowledge that:

• AI-generated content is produced algorithmically and may contain inaccuracies or theological imprecisions
• AI content is intended as a devotional aid and supplement, not a replacement for Scripture, pastoral counsel, or your church community
• We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content
• You should verify any Scripture references cited by the AI against an authoritative Bible translation

All rights, title, and interest in and to the FaithLock application — including its software, design, graphics, branding, logo, and original content — are owned by FaithLock and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

Bible text displayed in the App may be subject to the copyright of respective publishers. FaithLock does not claim ownership of Scripture text.

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected. The App's effectiveness in helping you reduce screen time or build spiritual habits is dependent on your own engagement and commitment and cannot be guaranteed.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, FaithLock and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data or device functionality
• Emotional distress or spiritual harm resulting from AI-generated content
• Service interruptions due to iOS updates or Apple policy changes affecting the Screen Time API
• Any damage resulting from unauthorized access to your account

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to FaithLock at any time for violation of these Terms, misuse of the service, or for any other legitimate reason, with or without prior notice.

You may terminate your use of the App at any time by deleting it from your device. To delete your account and associated data, please visit our Data Deletion page.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation where possible. If you reside in the European Union, you may have additional rights under applicable consumer protection laws.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via push notification or in-app message. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
